Celebrating an Epiphany and Epitome and Epoch: 200th Post

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to 2015.

Today we are celebrating the 200th post on Fannie Cranium’s Guide to Irreverent Wisdom.

*Fannie runs around the room cheering. She blows on a noise maker. The cats run out of the room.*

Oh wait, Christmas day was the actual post, but I don’t count “holiday” posts in the total.

With this in mind, thank you for following along with me through too many special editions and too few short stories about Fannie, Richard, Bunny and the gang in 2014.

I interrupted this blog in 2014 so I could enter writing contests. None of which I won, but all of which I learned from.

And to work on a book proposal, which should be finished by April 2015. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Epiphany—a flash of insight.

During the first 200 posts I discovered punctuation and I lived on separate continents. And I’d unmasked a severe case of dangling modifiers.

In August [2013], I made a comment to a fellow blogger about needing a cure for dangling modifiers, and discovered this week I’m still infected . . . Since there is no “Compound DM” to remove dangling modifiers, I thought DANGLING MODIFIERS should be made into a necklace, worn like bling, and the décolletage double entendres would be the bonus material for my book: The Naughties Guide to Innocent Behavior. This would be “Rule Number 20—If you can’t beat a problem, make jewelry out of it, and wear it like you’re puttin’ on the ritz. Maybe you’ll sell it on Etsy and make a profit out of your misfortune. . .” . 😉

Perfect practice makes perfect—with lots and lots and lots of practice . . . and a little help from the Chicago Manual of Style cheat sheet.

Who said cheaters never prosper?

Thank you Eveready flashlight fans for improving my Google ranking. “Have You Seen My Pocket Trout?”  is my all time most viewed post.

This blog started with the intent of writing about Fannie, Richard and the gang, which leads me to the next topic.

Epitome—a person or thing that shows the typical qualities of something

Fannie summed it up best when she said, “Clarissa and I—best friends since age three—grew up next door to each other. We adopted Bunny when she and George moved here from Texas. Her transition to the Pacific Northwest lifestyle, or ‘north-wet’ lifestyle as Clarissa and I call it, akin to Dorothy visiting Oz. We guide her here, in exchange, she advises us on southern hospitality. We all agreed to think of it as diversity training.”

Epoch—the start of a new period in the history of anything.

It’s 2015. This has got to be the year I figure out how to navigate around WordPress. I’ll write more than three original short stories for this blog this year. *Fingers are crossed.* Or else re-title special editions, “I didn’t have time to write a short story this week”. Maybe I should keep special edition, it’s shorter. 🙂
